Guest Post: Setting Goals & Making Things Happen!

ACCOMPLISHING SET GOALS

There is something about setting goals that causes us to work toward getting them accomplished. With this in mind, let’s consider what kind of goals we can set right now and work at getting them done perhaps even before the end of this year.

I like to think of goal setting as a challenge. Setting goals can include a number of things in our everyday life. We can set these goals with a mindset that would include baby steps. We must be realistic to accomplish any goal we set. Personally, I have seen when the goal was set too high, it can feel quite impossible to accomplish.

What can be some goals we set out to accomplish? Well, this can realistically include a number of things. Just because it is not New Year’s Day, when so many try to set resolutions for another year, does not mean you cannot begin right now, right where you are. I like to think of each day as another opportunity to change and do things even better than we did before.

Let’s choose not to regret what we could do today because tomorrow is not promised. We all have experienced a unique year with this worldwide virus and some things perhaps for some, had to immediately change. There are things we hoped we would have accomplished but had to re-evaluate and do things very differently. The point is that we set out to create new goals to accomplish as we all had to make these unexpected changes. It has been incredible to see that when something that can really harm us, so many have had to be creative in order to remain on top of things. This not only demonstrated creative abilities on another level but an opportunity to do things differently.

Accomplishing goals comes from a mindset to do so. It is one thing to set a goal and another to fulfill it. The rewards are incredible no matter how much effort it took to do so. Whether you want to adjust to include exercise, change your eating habits, lose some weight, come out of debt, make wise investments, travel, become a better listener, do well in school, get a new job, or you name the goal you honestly would like to accomplish, why not begin today? It is not about anybody else at this point but yourself to decide to set goals and realistically consider how to accomplish them.

Share some of your realistic goals that you are ready to attempt to accomplish this year. It is great to first admit the desire to accomplish and then consider how to begin to input them into your life. I also would suggest a mentor and/or individual whom you can be accountable to in order to accomplish your set goals. You can begin strong and then slowly drift from them.  Many things can affect your diminishing accomplishments, but rather than staying on what you haven’t done, admit the need to get back up and keep going. I would honestly love to hear from you, on your journey to accomplishing your goals.

About me: Over time, I have come to realize that we must take pauses or we are just experiencing life passing us by quickly! Everyday there are several moments we can perhaps all talk about and be an encouragement to someone else with.

  1. What a great post! I love seeing a new voice on your platform. This was very informative as well. I stick by the fact that you cannot make progress if you do not set realistic goals for yourself because without that, what are you working towards? I loved reading this.
