My Current Fall Obsessions

Fall is definitely my favorite time of year. Actually – more so the Halloween season & then it can go back to being summer again. LOL I just love all the fun activities surrounding this time of year, the fashion, the tasty beverages & spooky entertainment. Today, I wanted to chat about some of my current fall obsessions & things I’ve been loving lately.

Bonfires With Friends

When the temperatures cool down & the bugs start to go away, I love spending my evenings by the fire & roast s’mores with good company. I love sitting around the fire reminiscing on stories, sharing new ones & just laughing away at inside jokes. Over the summer, we fixed up the backyard & purchased a new gas powered firepit & a few adirondack chairs. It’s definitely an upgrade from sitting on fold out camping chairs in mud like before. We even strung a few lights around the deck railings to add more lighting & ambiance during the night. And maybe since it’s spooky season, we will share a few ghost stories next time we are out there.

Claw Clips

As a 90’s baby, I rocked the claw clip look all the time & I’m so happy the hairstyle is back! I recently caved & bought the ever so popular claw clips off Amazon that every basic bitch is wearing on Tiktok. As a writer, I find this hairstyle to be so helpful. It gets my hair out of the way as I type & it doesn’t create ugly bumps if I want to wear my hair down later.

Moleskin Journal

I love a good notebook. I think that’s just the writer in me. I’m always jotting something down whether it’s to-do lists of some kind or random thoughts & reflections. I actually started a new gratitude journal this year & decided to purchase this brand of notebook again because of its plain cover. Very minimalistic of me, i know. Reflecting on my life & focusing on the positives especially when life has its tough moments has been something I do to maintain a better wellbeing. I’ve been enjoying spending my evenings just jotting a few thoughts & blessings down before I go to bed. That way, those negative thoughts don’t fester while I’m trying to get my beauty rest.

Oversized Graphic T’s

I’ve been changing up my style lately & fall fashion has got to be my favorite time of year to experiment. I found a few oversized graphic t’s from Target & PacSun & I love pairing them with black leggings & boots or even my Sam Edelman sneakers I purchased during the Nordstrom anniversary sale. Sometimes I’ll layer a jean jacket or puffer for warmth. But it’s a nice casual go-to look when I’m opting for comfort. I know I’ve said in a few decluttering posts, that graphic t shirts are something you should probably cut back on because they are a bit juvenile at times; but I feel like if you find the right one & pair it correctly, it can really make an outfit more unique. This month, I’ve been doing a complete wardrobe transformation / declutter so let me know if you’d be interested in a decluttering series in November.

“You’re Not Special” by Meghan Reinks

This is my kind of self help book. It’s one I had in my nightstand drawer for months, I would read a few pages & quickly find something else to do. I just have bad attention span when it comes to reading lately & I’m trying to be better. Nevertheless, I finally finished the damn book & I loved it. It has wit & humor mixed with relatable topics. I’ve been watching her Youtube channel for years so when I found out she wrote a book, I knew I was totally buying it. Her paperback version is finally available if you are interested!

The Nintendo Switch Light

Remember in my 30th birthday post, I mentioned I will always be a kid at heart? Well, I’ve been playing games on my nintendo switch light a lot lately. My favorite games are Animal Crossing & Mario Kart. Whenever I’m looking to have some downtime, I always opt to play one of these games for a few hours. Do you have one? What are some of your favorite games to play?

Verity by Colleen Hoover

Another book I finished last month that I want to mention now is Verity. This novel definitely got me back into reading more frequently. It is a romantic thriller [my favorite genre] & about a freelance writer who is given the opportunity to finish a series by a world renowned author. This author’s real life story just becomes far more interesting than the fiction. Check out this Instagram reel where I talk about this book & a few others: fall books i love

My New Reading Nook

Speaking of books, I actually added a new addition to my blogging office. Let me just say, this space has become by own little sanctuary at home. Recently, I decided to bite the bullet & purchase a chair for this corner by the window. Before, I had my fiance’s old black leather couch & then an ottoman that just seemed out of place. But now, it is the perfect little corner for getting lost in some good books. The chair is from Amazon if you are curious. We actually have the same one [ just different color ] in our living room. It’s the perfect size for the space & super comfortable. All I need now is a small ottoman & possibly a small table where I can place a warm beverage.

Sneakers

I’ve been trying to add a few new pairs of shoes in my wardrobe. Most of my shoes are very worn & old. But I’ve been expanding my style a bit, specifically my sneaker game. I usually stick to boots in the fall & winter but I wanted a different type of shoe for those casual days. I purchased these Sam Edelman sneakers a few months ago & I’ve been wearing them a ton this month. So many people have been rocking the sneakers with midi dresses but I’ve been pairing them mostly with leggings or jeans. I love the tan & white color of them – very minimalistic.

Those are a few of my fall obsessions lately. Let me know if I should continue this type of blog post in the future. I love sharing lifestyle favorites with you all. Let me know in the comments what you’ve been into lately?

  1. Love this!!
Though I now feel terribly old, because I’ve used a claw clip in my hair for years… I clearly know nothing about style.
I’m quite envious of your reading nook!

  3. I love this type of post. It’s nice to get a glimpse into your life lol And I miss those claw clips — I used to use them all the time, though sometimes they were also for playing as well as every 90s kid is familiar with. I didn’t know that claw clips were coming back!

  4. I love claw clips; they are easy to use, durable, and they keep my hair in one place (generally) over the course of the day. The shape of yours looks awesome; mine is more of a square.

Your reading nook is so cosy and the chair is perfect for cozying into! Thanks for sharing. 🙂

  6. I am also obsessed with wearing my huge collection of cleverly captioned t-shirts in the fall, like the one I bought in London with the Mind the Gap logo on the front. I also enjoy drinking hot coffee again, especially pumpkin spice and peppermint mocha. I like wearing my felt brimmed hat again and my scarves. Fall is a cozy time.

  7. I loved your post!!! I definitely like when the weather is cooling down and I can totally relate with always having a journal around, as a writer, to jot things down as they come to mind. I’ve actually started creating my own journals! I’m super excited to share soon!! 🙂

  9. Spending your evenings around a fire with roast s’mores and good company sounds like the perfect evening. It makes me wish I had a garden! 🔥

I didn’t realise the claw clip look is back! My mum has a wide collection of them so she will be happy. I have a lot of notebooks and journals dotted around my home, and I’m never too far away from one. The Nintendo Switch Light sounds so much fun! I’d love to get one.

Your new reading book looks incredibly cosy and relaxing—you 100% new a small ottoman to complete the comfort level.

I loved reading through this post; thank you for sharing. 😊
